2015 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival At-a-Glance, Everything a Festival-Goer Should Know

There are certain tips and information that may be helpful, especially for new festival attendees:

  • The shuttle site is located at Railroad Avenue and 13th Street in the City of Santa Clarita.
  • The shuttle to William S. Hart Park is free and there is no on-site parking, so all attendees must park at the shuttle site.

From Interstate 5:

  • Exit Lyons Avenue, proceed east 2 miles
  • Turn left on Railroad Ave. & prepare for right turn.
  • Turn Right onto 13th St.
From State Route 14
  • Exit Newhall Avenue & stay to right on Railroad Ave
  • Turn Right onto 13th Street, cross RR tracks to shuttle site
  • Tickets can be purchased at the shuttle site. For a list of commonly asked questions click here.

  • We love to see our Festival patrons dress like the West!
  • Festival presenters suggest comfortable closed toed shoes.
  • Check the weather. While most performances are inside or under cover, much of the festival is open-air.
  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.


  • A variety of great food is available for purchase at the William S. Hart Park.
  • Bottled water is provided.


  • Guests are allowed to take pictures at the Festival.
  • Pets are not allowed on the property with the exception of Guide Dogs or Service Dogs.
  • Guns and knives, even if they’re decorative, are not allowed onto the property.
  • An ATM is available on site.
  • Beer and wine are available for purchase on site.

Get on your horse and ride down to the ‘Country Throwdown’ cowboy themed Senses block party happening tonight, April 16, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

There will be fun activities, food trucks, cowboy themed drinks and a live musical performance by Dawson’s Gang at the event.

Saddle Up! ‘Thursdays@Newhall’ April Events Begin Tonight with ArtSlam

The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, continues in April with its second installment of fun and exciting events of the 2015 season.

Senses August Odd Ball Sports 2

Main Street in Old Town Newhall will come to life each Thursday evening with a variety of events, including square dancing, a car show with trucks and off-road vehicles, a Western-themed block party, an appearance by acclaimed director Jorge Gutierrez and performances by renowned musicians Kristyn Harris and Jim Jones.

ArtSLAM and JAM Sessions, hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, returns on tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Residents can explore the free ArtSLAM open-air gallery featuring local and regional artists, while Susan Michaels and Triple Chicken Foot lead do-si-doers in swinging square dances for JAM Sessions.

Revved Up cruises onto Main Street with trucks and off-roading vehicles on Thursday, April 9, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. The event will also include a live DJ, food trucks and a beer and wine garden for adults. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for consideration in a future Revved Up Car Show can apply online.

In anticipation of the 22nd Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy FestivalSENSES returns to Old Town Newhall with a Country Throwdown block party on Thursday, April 16, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. The event will feature live country music, line dancing, horse shoes, trick roping and gourmet food trucks.

The ARTree Speaker Series will finish out the April lineup with a free screening of the animated film “The Book of Life“, and discussion with its director, Cal Arts graduate Jorge Guierrez, on Thursday, April 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newhall Community Center.


As part of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will be held on Wednesday, April 15, with the 2015 Western Music Association’s Female and Male Performers of the Year: Kristyn Harris and Jim Jones. The western music event starts at 8 p.m. at the Repertory East Playhouse. Tickets can be purchased here.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish! Senses Returns with Irish-Themed Block Party this Thursday

Thursdays@Newhall’s most popular event, Senses, returns to Old Town Newhall with a Luck O’ the Irish-themed block party, presented by Galpin Subaru, happening this Thursday from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Main Street.

Around Town: 40 Classic VWs featured at Thursdays@Newhall’s ‘Revved Up’ Debut

On Thursday, March 12, the City of Santa Clarita debuted its new monthly car show, Revved Up, as part of its Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

More than 500 people packed the Main Street in Old Town Newhall to attend the event, which featured 40 classic VW’s including: Beetles, classic buses, Type 3s, Karmann Ghias, Things (aka Type 181) and a Porsche-VW 914. Attendees voted on the cars in two categories: People’s Choice and Peer Choice.

Revved Up also included a live DJ, food trucks and a beer and wine garden.


The next Revved Up event will feature trucks and off-roading vehicles on Thursday, April 9. Residents can submit their car for consideration to be featured at the next event.

The next Thursdays@Newhall event will be the Luck O’ the Irish Senses block party which will be held on Thursday, March 19, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

City’s 2015 Thursdays @ Newhall Series Gears Up for March

Thursday nights will heat up in March as Santa Clarita’s popular Thursdays @ Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, returns to Old Town Newhall on March 5. Several new and returning events will be held on Thursday nights from March through October, including a weekly rotation of ArtSLAM, a new Revved Up car show, SENSES, the ARTree 2015 Speaker Series and the SCVTV Presents OutWest Concert Series.

Art Walk

On the first Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., ArtSLAM will combine forces with JAM Sessions to celebrate art, music and movement. ArtSLAM features art installations by local artists. JAM Sessions is an interactive series inviting residents to release their inner artist through tango, salsa, drumming, square dance and much more. All ArtSLAM is free and open to the public.

The Thursdays @ Newhall series cruises on with Revved Up, a free themed car show held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. Each event will feature a different genre of top quality cars, plus a live DJ, food trucks and a beer and wine garden for adults. Attendees will be invited to vote for their favorite car, with eligible winners entered for consideration into the annual OTNA Classic Car Show.

Senses Beach Party Crowd

The City’s popular SENSES block party will heat up Main Street once again from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on every third Thursday of the month. The free outdoor events, which draw thousands of attendees each week and will kick off on Thursday, March 19 with a Luck o’ the Irish theme, including live Celtic rock music, as well as food trucks and activities.

JAM Session Farmers Market 2

The ARTree 2015 Speaker Series will feature free lectures and discussions with influential artists and leaders who bring art, arts education and exceptional projects to Santa Clarita. The series will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. The series begins on February 26 with Moses Mora and Jim Rice from the Bell Arts Factory.


The SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will bring live ticketed music performances to Old Town Newhall on the fourth Thursday of each month. The ongoing music series is held at the Repertory East Playhouse and features well-established musicians, as well as new and emerging vocal artists and music groups in Western genres.

Tickets are now on sale for the 22nd Annual Santa Clarita  Cowboy Festival, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union. Festival goers can grab tickets on the Cowboy Festival’s website.

The full Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival will be held between April 15 – 19 and includes various venues in Old Town Newhall. Weekend entertainment at William S. Hart Park, accessible with a general admission ticket, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 18 – 19.

Around Town: ‘Light Up Main Street’ in Old Town Newhall

On Saturday, November 15, Main Street in Old Town Newhall was transformed into a winter wonderland as thousands of lights were illuminated by the Santa Clarita City Council as part of the City’s 2nd annual “Light Up Main Street” event, presented by PayForward.
