2015 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival At-a-Glance, Everything a Festival-Goer Should Know

The 22nd Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, comes to Old Town Newhall this Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19. For continual updates from the festival, follow CowboyFestSC on Twitter and

There are certain tips and information that may be helpful, especially for new festival attendees:

  • The shuttle site is located at Railroad Avenue and 13th Street in the City of Santa Clarita.
  • The shuttle to William S. Hart Park is free and there is no on-site parking, so all attendees must park at the shuttle site.

From Interstate 5:

  • Exit Lyons Avenue, proceed east 2 miles
  • Turn left on Railroad Ave. & prepare for right turn.
  • Turn Right onto 13th St.
From State Route 14
  • Exit Newhall Avenue & stay to right on Railroad Ave
  • Turn Right onto 13th Street, cross RR tracks to shuttle site
  • Tickets can be purchased at the shuttle site. For a list of commonly asked questions click here.

  • We love to see our Festival patrons dress like the West!
  • Festival presenters suggest comfortable closed toed shoes.
  • Check the weather. While most performances are inside or under cover, much of the festival is open-air.
  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.


  • A variety of great food is available for purchase at the William S. Hart Park.
  • Bottled water is provided.


  • Guests are allowed to take pictures at the Festival.
  • Pets are not allowed on the property with the exception of Guide Dogs or Service Dogs.
  • Guns and knives, even if they’re decorative, are not allowed onto the property.
  • An ATM is available on site.
  • Beer and wine are available for purchase on site.

Santa Clarita Transit has rolled out new bus schedules this week for 2015 for local and commuter routes with the first day of service beginning on January 10.

Changes include minor time adjustments to various local and commuter routes, including the map design of commuter routes 797/792 making it easier to understand the bus routing.

Teens in Santa Clarita have a new place to get information about news and events in their City with the City of Santa Clarita’s new website,

TeenSCV Things to Do page

The youth-oriented site serves as a portal for local teens to stay up-to-date on activities and events in Santa Clarita, including volunteer and employment opportunities, transit information, leadership committees and other teen-run clubs and groups.

The website includes an interactive “Teen Shout Out” platform to showcase the many great things teens are doing in the City of Santa Clarita.

TeenSCV will host a #WinWednesday Twitter contest to celebrate the new site launch with weekly giveaways for teens. The contest will be today through Wednesday, December 17. Winners will be announced weekly.

Senses will feature the always popular entertainment of Vaud and the Villains, a 19 piece New Orleans Orchestra and Cabaret Show, as well as Retro Format with 1920′s black and white movies, and a few classic Ford Model T cars.

City Announces Fall 2013 Quarterly Photo Contest Winners, Winter Contest Now Open!

Every season, the City of Santa Clarita invites community photographers to take part in the City’s quarterly photo contest. The photo contest is an opportunity for residents to showcase community life in the City of Santa Clarita.

The winning photographs will be posted online at, on the City’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram accounts and in city publications, such as the City’s award winning Seasons Magazine.  Winning photographers will receive photo credit as well as a one time cash prize.

Get ‘Social’ with New Social Media Job Search Workshop at Santa Clarita WorkSource Center

The College of the Canyons University Center is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.

The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center is inviting local residents to a new workshop designed to show how to successfully use social media when job searching. This FREE workshop will be held on Friday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Suite 250.

The workshop will provide information on how to effectively conduct a job search by using social media and tips for networking with potential employers.  The workshop will include an overview of social media tools offered on the Internet, ways to navigate through each platform when searching for a job, how to connect with employers who use social media, and how to learn about specific job openings before the general public.

Registration is necessary for this free event.  Interested participants can register by phone at (661) 799-9675.  All confirmed attendees must arrive before 9 a.m. and be available to stay for the complete workshop until 11 a.m.

Last Thursday night, the final Senses event of the year hosted a Chills and Thrills Halloween themed block party on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. Senses will return in March 2014.
