“You Talk, We Listen” Help the City Communicate with New Survey

The City of Santa Clarita is trying to find how to better communicate with its residents. Whether it is through social media like Facebook and Twitter, Santa Clarita City Briefs or through Youtube, the City of Santa Clarita wants to hear suggestions from the community.

Community members with suggestions can take the survey by going to Santa-Clarita.com/Survey.

Around Town: ‘Teen Scene Plugged In’ at College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center

Last night, the City of Santa Clarita hosted Teen Scene Plugged-In at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center. This program informed parents about today’s teen culture and gave them tools to connect and understand their teen’s daily life and issues.

Anti-drug organizations from around the City including A Light of Hope and ACTION provided helpful information to parents about the social and academic pressures teens face everyday at the resource fair.

Councilmember Frank Ferry spoke about personal experiences as being the principle of Alemany High School and the teen issues he comes across.

Kathy Hunter, Director of Student Services at William S. Hart Union High School District, spoke aabout “toxic” parenting issues and pressures faced by teens.

For two decades, thousands of fans have have made the yearly pilgrimage to the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio to celebrate the sights, sounds & flavors of the Old West. Join us as the City counts down towards the 20th Annual Cowboy Festival happening April 18-21!

Tweet Your Favorite Santa Clarita Photo For City’s Photo Friday Twitter Contest

The City is inviting residents to participate in Photo Friday- a Twitter Contest sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Tourism Bureau. The contest allows those following the City on Twitter with the opportunity to submit their favorite snapshots of the Santa Clarita Valley via Twitter for the chance to win the Grand Prize- a Flip MinoHD camcorder.  The contest will run through October to give community members the chance to win the state of the art camcorder- and a new way to record Santa Clarita moments.

 To enter, just upload your favorite Santa Clarita snapshot and send it to @SantaClarita on Twitter at specified times. Photos can range from snapshots of afternoons spent at local parks and tee times at local golf courses, to cycling trips on trails and nights out with friends at local restaurants. If you’re having fun in the City, snap a photo!

All photos submitted to @SantaClarita on Twitter will be reviewed and narrowed down to a Top 10 and featured on the City’s Tourism website, VisitSantaClarita.com.

The winner will be announced at the end of the contest on Tuesday, November 3.
