‘Highwire Act’ Art Exhibit Opening Reception Tonight at 6 P.M. on Town Center Drive

December 9, 2011

The opening reception for the Highwire Act: Insights Into Substance Abuse art exhibit will be held tonight, December 9, at space #135 on Town Center Drive , at the Westfield Valencia Town Center, at 6 p.m.  The exhibit explores the impacts of substance abuse through various forms, including photography, painting and mixed media.

The exhibit, originally created through Kern County’s Creating Community program, and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, is on loan to the City of Santa Clarita who is presenting the exhibit as part of the Heroin Kills initiative. As with many suburban communities around the country, heroin use among young people is on the rise in Santa Clarita.

The City of Santa Clarita has launched a prevention outreach program, Heroin Kills, which spreads awareness of the drug and offers resources for recovery and counseling. The exhibit space for Highwire Act was generously donated by the Westfield Valencia Town Center for the special exhibit. Food and drink will be served at the reception, and no reservation is required to join the artists for this special evening.
