‘Senses’ Brings St. Patrick’s Day Themed Block Party to Old Town Newhall Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow, Main Street will be colored green for the Luck o’ the Irish SENSES block party happening in Old Town Newhall from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Be sure wear green in pre-celebration of St. Paddy’s Day.

On the street, look for an Irish whiskey tasting bar, provided by the Foundation for Children’s Dental Health, which will be serving up tastings for $20 and expertise on beverages.  If you find yourself needing an Irish blessing, visit the ARTree to ‘POP’ a balloon to receive a surprise inside.  Or, catch a photo with the Bud Girls dazzled in spanking green.

Yesterday, the Santa Clarita Farmers Market re-opened in Old Town Newhall between Market Street and 8th.

The Farmers Market is open each Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The first Thursday also includes an Art Walk.

The Farmers Market is newly managed by Coastal Pacific, who is known for their reputation as being one of the best market operators in the state.

There was also two Food Trucks on the Street, Mandoline Grill and N’awlins Food Truck.

Farmers Market Returns Today in Conjuction with First Thursdays Art Walk, Music and More in Old Town Newhall

Take a stroll down Main Street and experience the Old Town Newhall Farmers Market, kicking off today, from 4 p.m. to  8 p.m.  This season’s weekly Farmers Market will be held between Market Street and 8th, and will offer a variety of fresh produce, packaged goods, handmade crafts, family-fun activities and more.

The Farmers Market is newly managed by Coastal Pacific, who is known for their reputation as being one of the best market operators in the state.  Coastal Pacific manages markets of the Los Angeles, Riverside, and Ventura counties, as well as Northridge Market which is one of the largest in the country.

After the Farmers Market enjoy an evening observing art showcased in businesses along Main Street at the monthly Art Walk event, taking place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Art Walk features works by local artists, activities, live entertainment, as well as art galleries displaying notable paintings, drawings, and photographs. The Farmers Market and Art Walk are great ways to spend Thursday night with family and friends, while supporting local businesses and vendors.

  • Art, Music, and Food will be featured in the Taco Llama parking lot.  The lot will feature the pop-art of Pablo Cevallos, pin-up girls by Jessica Rose, and car art by Steve Jasik.
  • The band Inferno will play a variety of music.  They are the ultimate wedding, party and corporate band.  Inferno plays every style of music, so be prepared to hear music that you love!
  • Along with the great restaurants on Main Street in Newhall, there will also be two Food Trucks on the Street.  Mandoline Grill and N’awlins Food Truck will be parked on Main Street between 4 p.m. and 7 pm for your dining pleasure.
  • ARTree will be there giving families a hands-on craft opportunity!
  • All are invited to an art reception for Trae Mundt who is the artist featured in OUT WEST for the month of March.  Enjoy free appetizers and sweets.
  • Lastly, visit the art space between the theatre’s and see all of the art competing in the “Art on Canvas” and the “Through the Lens” contests.  Both of these art competitions were designed to promote the arts throughout the community.  This year’s theme was “It’s All About You.”  The first, second, third, and people’s choice winners will be announced at 7 pm.  Please visit the gallery and vote for your People’s choice winner!

The City of Santa Clarita will induct Western legends Joel Cox and Glenn Ford into the Walk of Western Stars this year as part of the 19th Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival. The induction ceremony is open to the public and will take place on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the City’s Wild, Wild, West SENSES event on Main Street.

The Walk of Western Stars pays homage to the City of Santa Clarita’s Western roots and rich film culture. Similar in style to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Walk of Western Stars honors actors, directors and film professionals for their contributions to the Western heritage of America. Sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Walk was established in 1981 and continues today as stars are immortalized in bronze and terrazzo tile stamped into the streets of Old Town Newhall.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held infront of Pulchella Winery and Newhall Bicycles.

Yesterday, Mayor Laurie Ender and the Santa Clarita City Council hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the first Building Improvement Grant Project in Old Town Newhall.

Mayor Ender spoke about the importance of improving the buildings in Old Town Newhall.

The project involved renovating the store fronts of Pulchella Winery and Newhall Bicycles.

City’s Monthly Block Party ‘Senses’ Transforms Main Street into Mardi Gras Festival Last Night

Last night, the streets of Old Town Newhall transformed into a New Orleans scene as community members celebrated local Mardi Gras festivities at the City’s monthly SENSES block party .

Over 1,000 people attended the free, monthly block party and enjoyed  live music from Vaud and the Villains, a 19-piece New Orleans Orchestra and Cabaret Show, carnival mask making booths from ARTree, photos with costumed performers, food trucks, and local business discounts.

‘Vaud and the Villains’ to be Featured Musical Act Tonight at ‘Senses on Main” Block Party’ in Old Town Newhall

Vaud and the Villains is a 19 piece 1930’s New Orleans orchestra and cabaret show which will be headlining the Mardi Gras themed Senses block party in Old Town Newhall tonight from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors to the event are urged to dress for chilly weather. The Vu bar and lounge will be on-site selling specialty Mardi Gras themed beverages and many of the local merchants are offering special discounts during the event.

… with echos of Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Session Band, they are Americana Noir meets Moulin Rouge.  A genre bending spectacle at once seedy and inspiring…gritty and sublime… Among their many engagements, they have played for LACMA’s ArtWalk,  OC Weekly,  for the City of West Hollywood, House of Blues, El Rey Theatre, Cirque Berzerk, Clear Channel, and Disney Studios, as well as live on the air on KPFK in Los Angeles, Live on the air with Suicide Girls, Amoeba Records, Café Was, The Mint, and many many sold out shows at their home Fais Do Do.
