The City of Santa Clarita invites local artists, performers and writers who are unable to attend the New Heights: Artist Development Series to listen to the discussions via a new podcast feature available online.

The first panel discussion entitled, “Getting Booked at a Festival: The Do’s and Don’ts,” featured program and festival developers Steve and Polly Hoganson, Ross Emery and Mike Fleming, who provided insight into how they make decisions about the performers booked for their events. Listeners can learn about the do’s and don’ts of approaching events for consideration.

Also available via the podcast is the two-part No Budget Films Workshop. The workshop is specifically designed to help the no budget filmmaker. The lessons, tools, and techniques gained from these sessions are intended to maximize very limited resources and minimize critical errors.

The podcasts can be accessed under Artist Services on Santa-Clarita.com/Arts. The site will be updated with all New Heights discussions from 2015 and 2016.

The New Heights: Artist Development Series is an initiative driven by the Santa Clarita City Council and Arts Commission.  The programs are designed to empower artists, performers and arts organization representatives with valuable tools to expand their knowledge and increase opportunities for success.

For more information about the New Heights: Artist Development Series, please contact the City’s Arts and Events Supervisor, Jeff Barber, at (661) 250-3779 or jbarber@santa-clarita.com
