Santa Clarita Public Library Hosts Día De Los Niños/ Día De Los Libros

The Santa Clarita Public Library invites the community to the annual celebration of international culture and childhood literacy at Día De Los Niños/ Día De Los Libros from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road.

Throughout the day, various events will emphasize the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

The free event will begin with a performance by Fil-AM of SCV Children’s Dance Troupe at 11 a.m., followed by Martin Espino’s Ancient Homelands Music at noon. The event concludes with Michael D. McCarty’s telling of International Folktales at 1 p.m.

Additionally, participants can enjoy live music, crafts, face painting, an opportunity to read to dogs, food trucks and other free activities. Every child will receive a free book.

Funding for this event was provided by the City of Santa Clarita Cultural Landscape funds and the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library.
