Exciting Lineup of Popular Music Set for 2016 Cowboy Festival

The 2016 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, will bring a wide variety of rockin’ musical genres to the wildest Western event of the season. Bringing back old favorites and introducing new performances, the 23rd annual event will feature more than 30 musical acts at four stages at William S. Hart Park Event Area, two venues in Old Town Newhall and other venues throughout the City.      

Admission to the main Cowboy Festival on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24 at William S. Hart Park Event Area includes access to performances by 16 bands and artists on four different stages: the Logix Stage, the Ranch House Stage, the Hart Hall Stage and the Heritage Junction Stage. On Saturday and Sunday, the Logix Stage will feature the Americana and Bluegrass sounds of the Carolyn Sills Combo, Dead Winter Carpenters, Old Salt Union and The Heifer Belles.

The Ranch House Stage will get festival-goers into the Wild West mood with the authentic Civil War Brass Band music of the Band of the California Battalion, the intertribal pow wow drum group Wild Horse Singers and Dancers, the gun spinning of Joey Dillon, and the hilarious comedy sketches and yodeling of Sourdough Slim.

The Hart Hall Stage will feature the classic Cowboy sounds of Syd Masters & the Swing Riders, Buckaroo Girl Adrian, Mikki Daniel, Carin Mari, Gary Robertson and Andy Nelson. 

Performances at the Heritage Junction Stage are sure to get boots tappin’ with the heady sounds of three western string bands, including The Devil’s Box String Band, The Vivants and Ventucky String Band.

Separate ticketed performances are available for purchase from Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24 at the Canyon Theatre Guild, located at 24266 Main Street and the Repertory East Playhouse, located at 24242 Main Street.

On Friday, the Canyon Theatre Guild will host the triple-threat fiddle champions, The Quebe Sisters along with original songwriter and singer Carin Mari. Saturday will bring Brenn Hill and Andy Nelson to the stage at 3:00 p.m., followed by the highly-anticipated Hot Club of Cowtown along with Sourdough Slim.  Sunday afternoon will feature Western jazz and bebop band Cow Bop and Western sensation Mikki Daniel, with an evening performance by Grammy nominated Don Edwards and the Carolyn Sills Combo. 

The Repertory East Playhouse will host folksinger Ramblin’ Jack Elliot on Friday night. Saturday afternoon will feature Western band The Messick Family, followed by an evening performance by Alt Country and Rockabilly musician James Intveld. Rounding out the weekend, CALICO the band will fill The REP with their Country music in the afternoon, followed by The Americans in the evening.

The Hart Mansion will host a Friday performance from Don Edwards and a Saturday book reading and discussion on Wyatt Earp by New York Times bestselling author, Casey Tefertiller.
