‘Read to the Rhythm’ at the Santa Clarita Public Library’s Summer Reading Program

Readers of all ages are invited to start the summer off on a high note with the Santa Clarita Public Library’s 2015 “Read to the Rhythm” Summer Reading Program from now through July 25. Online registration is now open and free to the public.

Story Time Valencia Library

The “Read to the Rhythm” program, presented in partnership with the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library, encourages residents to celebrate literature and music with a variety of summer programming available at the Canyon Country, Valencia and Old Town Newhall library branches, including specially themed story times and literary character programs, DIY crafts, dance classes, guitar design workshops, cooking classes, musical performances and more.

To accommodate the many families that participate in the Summer Reading Program, some events will be held off-site. These “Rhythm ‘Round the City” events include:

  • Wild Wonders presents Jungle Boogie: June 22, at 3 p.m. at Golden Valley High School, located at 217051 Robert C. Lee Parkway
  • Rusty presents Let’s Go Save the Butterflies: July 17, at 6 p.m. at West Ranch High School, located at 26255 Valencia Boulevard

The program will culminate at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25 with a free Summer Reading Program Music Jamboree Finale at Newhall Park. The event will feature prize drawings, sponsor booths, an award ceremony and live performances from The Wacko Show, Terns and Nathalia Palis.
