The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays @ Newhall, presented by Galpin Subaru, kicks off the month of July with a series of traditional and commemorative time periods for all generations to enjoy.
Salute the nation with a Patriotic Art SLAM event on Thursday, July 3, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Old Town Newhall. “The Los Angeles Fifes and Drums” will be on hand to perform traditional music from the Revolutionary War and American Civil War period. Attendees will also enjoy several art demonstrations and activities, including a live photo shoot, painting with artist Jane Mick, a pop-up gallery themed with patriotism and remembrances, graphic artist Al Ewing’s “My American Flag” collection, and “The Patriotic Shoe” project by ARTree.
On Thursday, July 10, Main Street awakens with the interactive musical movement JAM Sessions featuring Mexican Folk Dance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Experience the rich cultural, traditions and colorful attire of this lively dance. Participants will embody the powerful movement of the bull as they stomp the night away with Pacifico Dance Company. This FREE session is presented in partnership with the Ford Theatre Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation and the City of Santa Clarita. To learn more, visit FordJamSessions.org.
On Thursday, July 17, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., guys and dolls are invited to relive the days of retro music, hot rods and pin-up girls at the Rockabilly themed SENSES event on Main Street.
