The Santa Clarita Valley International Programs (SCVIP) and Santa Clarita Sister Cities is hosting a benefit concert entitled Journey Through Latin America on Saturday, September 8, at 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.
Journey Through Latin America features musical artist Joao Junqueira and his group Vento Sur, as well as special international guests. The evening is a celebration of Latin American culture and includes the music, dance, stories, and landscapes of several countries, including Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, Argentina and Brazil.
Tickets prices include: $5, $10 and $15, and are available for purchase online. All proceeds raised from the event benefit the Santa Clarita Valley International Programs and Santa Clarita Sister Cities efforts, including the new local student ambassador program, scholarships and education, medical and literacy missions.
The Santa Clarita Sister Cities program supports relationships where education, economic development and cultural awareness may be exchanged, implemented and strengthened. Santa Clarita currently has a Sister Cities relationship with Tena, Ecuador in South America and Sariaya, Quezon in the Philippines.
