Mayor Ferry Delivers Special Day for Golden Oak Elementary Third Graders

Mayor Frank Ferry shows off the winning artwork, done by Andrew Oh, to students of Golden Oak Elementary.

Andrew Oh, third grader at Golden Oak Elementary School, was one of three winners of the City of Santa Clarita’s 25th Anniversary inspired coloring contest.

The prize for the contest was a special assembly for all the members of the winning artist’s grade. Above, third graders pose with Mayor Ferry and members of the City’s Fire and Sheriff’s Departments.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s showed up with lights flashing to an excited audience.

Mayor Ferry fielded questions from the kids and told them what it’s like to be Mayor.

Santa Clarita City Manager Ken Pulskamp told kids all about city government.

It was a big day for contest winner Andrew Oh, who got a certificate from the Mayor, got to climb up a fire ladder and got to see first hand how the City cleans storm drains.
