The Santa Clarita Public Library celebrated the Newhall Library’s first annual Dia De Los Ninos/Dia De Los Libros event (The Day of the Book / Day of the Child) that was held on Saturday, April 28. Over 200 guests enjoyed fun activities like face painting from local face-painting artist, Portia of ‘Tickled Paint’, arts and crafts, and fun storytime activities.

Claudia Lopez-Gallagher, bilingual educator and library volunteer, gave two bilingual storytimes which had everyone chanting along in two languages. After storytime, children created a simple book of their own to celebrate books and reading.

Yvette Brandy, a professional storyteller who draws on her background in speech pathology and education, told stories using music, audience participation, and multiple languages.
