The Valencia Library and SCV Senior Center will be available to residents as "cooling centers" for periods of time during the heat wave.
The City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health are reminding residents to take necessary precautions as the summer sets in and temperatures rise to uncomfortable numbers. To help residents beat the heat, two “Cooling Center” locations will be open to offer relief.
- The Valencia Library will be open as a Cooling Center Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- The SCV Senior Center will be open as a Cooling Center Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Both locations will be open during the extreme heat weather conditions. If you are planning to visit one of these Cooling Centers, it is advisable that you call in advance to make sure there is still seating available.
