The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays series will head into April with an exciting lineup of Samba dancing, free live performances, an off-road car show, a Best in the West block party and more.

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on April 6, kick off your shoes and let your body sway to one of Brazil’s most popular cultural expressions – the Samba! JAM Sessions is hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, bringing dancing and original live performances to the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. Viver Brasil Dance Company will help you pick up the rhythms and movements of this lively dance while Samba Society plays live music.

Also on April 6 at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street, ten performers will take the stage for ten minutes each and share their comedy, storytelling, short films and music at 10 by 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Performers include Lisa Alvarado, Jaclyn Passaro, Dan Sachoff, Pablo Marz, Sam Feirstein, Action Acting, Sam Montana, Abel Gallardo, Cameron Rose, The New Mexican and the short film, “Extinction.”

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on April 13, off-road vehicles will take a break from crawling over rocks and playing in the mud to show off their wheels at the Revved Up car show on Main Street. Residents can enjoy food trucks and purchase adult beverages provided by Persia Lounge, while checking out the cars on display. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for Revved Up can apply at OldTownNewhall.com/RevvedUp.

More entertainment on April 13, as local songwriters will perform their original works at Note by Note inside The MAIN, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The evening’s performers include featured artist Jody Mulgrew as well as Kiki Halliday, Krista BY and Charlie Roberts. Performers interested in taking the stage at Note by Note can find out more at OldTownNewhall.com/NotebyNote.

The SENSES block party will showcase the Best in the West on Main Street from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on April 20! Residents can rediscover the spirit of the Old West with music from The Mary White Band, mechanical bull rides, line dancing and trick roping. Mosey up to the on-street bar for a round of drinks or grab some grub from one of the food trucks or local restaurants.

Thursdays’s April events conclude with the ARTree Speaker Series on April 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The MAIN.  Spanning motion picture design, comic books, book illustration, poster design, CD covers, and public murals, award-winning artist William Stout has built an eclectic and legendary body of work. Come hear him speak about his career, his art and living in Antarctica.
