The Valencia Boulevard Median Refurbishment Project began construction on Monday, June 20, 2016 and will continue until November 2016.
The project will refurbish a total of 12 medians on Valencia Boulevard between Tourney Road and Magic Mountain Parkway. The construction will include replacing existing grass with drought-tolerant plants, and the installation of more durable and efficient irrigation systems.
Traffic circulation and pedestrian safety improvement will also be addressed along Valencia Boulevard. The project will truncate the median nose at McBean Parkway, extend the eastbound left-turn pocket on Citrus Drive, modify the median at the eastbound left-turn pocket at Magic Mountain Parkway to eliminate the ponding of water, and create a dedicated right-turn pocket at Magic Mountain Parkway.
Residents who regularly commute along Valencia Boulevard are encouraged to pay attention to construction signs, and anticipate some lane closures and traffic delays. Drivers should travel slowly and cautiously during construction until improvements are completed.
Construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of November 2016. The project is part of the Santa Clarita 2020 plan.
