On December 16, 30 teens completed the fall session of the Youth Employment Services (YES) and Job Skills training programs and were recognized for their achievements.
20 teens received “Perfect Attendance,” awards, 11 “Above and Beyond” and four teens were hired by their current employers. The job offers came from CVS, Old Navy and Tee Plus.
At the closing ceremony, city employee and former YES program participant Melissa Arjon, who recently graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from West Coast College, talked to the teens about staying focused and achieving their goals.
Participants also received “Certificates of Completion” along with a job packet with employment opportunities.
