Santa Clarita recently hosted its own Startup Weekend on November 13-15. Organized by local volunteer community members, Startup Weekends are 54-hour events that create a forum for designers and creative minds to gain insight and relevant, real-time experience for growing a business while expanding their portfolios and networks.
Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development and prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate with Sunday night demos and presentations. Those presentations are then judged and entered into the global Startup Weekend competitions.
In Santa Clarita, 44 entrepreneurs participated in the weekend, 26 ideas were pitched and a total of 7 teams presented their ideas on Sunday evening. Three of the seven concepts have successfully entered into the virtual Global Start Up Battle, representing Santa Clarita.
One of Santa Clarita’s Business Incubator entrepreneurs, Alex Bozman of Nuhubit Software Studios, participated in the event and was part of the team that won 1st place for their idea: Go Inturn.
Go Inturn wants to make internships more fulfilling and rewarding for both interns and employers through a platform that encourages quality participants and interactions.
