The Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival is being held today at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Check out the festival featured on KTLA morning news with Allie Mac Kay.
The FREE Festival is designed to bring the community together to raise awareness about the important role physical activity plays in the lives of young people. Admission is free to the public.
In the new Healthy Families Experience, presented by Kaiser Permanente, families will have the opportunity to receive important information in a fun environment. In addition, families will be able to learn about food choices in a fun, interactive way, in the Explore the Store! area sponsored by Whole Foods, which includes choosing the colors and flavors of fresh fruit and veggies, and then Create their Plate!, for a free, healthy snack.
To encourage outdoor activity and get kids moving, the Play Every Day! area will be available with Back to the Basics activities of hop scotch, tetherball, jump rope, and even hula hoop. The Festival is divided into activity zones offering more than 20 recreational games and activities, including: tennis, golf, football, hockey, volleyball, baseball, rock climbing, interactive fitness equipment, trampoline jumping, and much more.
Some of the region’s biggest names in sports will be represented at the event including the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Champions - Los Angeles Kings, the Lancaster JetHawks and many more!
