Thursdays@Newhall’s most popular event, Senses, returns with a Masquerade-themed block party, presented by Galpin Subaru, happening this Thursday, May 21, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

There will be fun themed activities, adult themed drinks, TheGrilledCheeseTruck and Recesstruck food trucks and a live musical performance by the 19-piece, 1930’s New Orleans Orchestra and Cabaret Show, Vaud and the Villians.

‘Thursdays@Newhall’ Series Continues on May 7 with ArtSlam

The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, continues in May with its third installment of the 2015 season.

On Thursday, May 7, from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. the Old Town Newhall Association presents street chalk art at ArtSLAM. Residents can watch more than 20 chalk art pieces take shape while perusing other works on display from local and student artists.

Also on Thursday, May 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. community members can take part in JAM Sessions, hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, as Christine Inouye leads celebratory bon dances, set to ondo music by Japenese folk fusion ensemble Minyo Station.

Senses Rockabilly

On Thursday, May 14, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. the Revved Up car show will feature traditional rods and customs, specifically 40’s, 50’s and early-60’s vehicles with a primary emphasis on low-buck and home-built using period-correct components. The event will also include music, food trucks and adult beverages. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for consideration in a future Revved Up Car Show can apply online.

Don masks and formal attire on Thursday, May 21, when SENSES returns with a free Masquerade block party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will feature the scintillating 19-piece, 1930’s New Orleans Orchestra and Cabaret Show of Vaud and the Villains, food trucks and adult beverages.

On Thursday, May 28, the ARTree Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership, will feature Los Angeles animator, filmmaker and artist Javier Barboza from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library. Barboza will discuss his surreal and narrative methods of creativity that tackles the complexities of urban life.

Also on Thursday, May 28, beginning at 8 p.m. the SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will host Susie Glaze & The Hilonesome Band, a newgrass Americana folk fusion quintet, at the Repertory East Playhouse. Tickets can be purchased here.

Saddle Up! ‘Thursdays@Newhall’ April Events Begin Tonight with ArtSlam

The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, continues in April with its second installment of fun and exciting events of the 2015 season.

Senses August Odd Ball Sports 2

Main Street in Old Town Newhall will come to life each Thursday evening with a variety of events, including square dancing, a car show with trucks and off-road vehicles, a Western-themed block party, an appearance by acclaimed director Jorge Gutierrez and performances by renowned musicians Kristyn Harris and Jim Jones.

ArtSLAM and JAM Sessions, hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, returns on tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Residents can explore the free ArtSLAM open-air gallery featuring local and regional artists, while Susan Michaels and Triple Chicken Foot lead do-si-doers in swinging square dances for JAM Sessions.

Revved Up cruises onto Main Street with trucks and off-roading vehicles on Thursday, April 9, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. The event will also include a live DJ, food trucks and a beer and wine garden for adults. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for consideration in a future Revved Up Car Show can apply online.

Senses Saddle Up 4

In anticipation of the 22nd Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy FestivalSENSES returns to Old Town Newhall with a Country Throwdown block party on Thursday, April 16, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. The event will feature live country music, line dancing, horse shoes, trick roping and gourmet food trucks.

The ARTree Speaker Series will finish out the April lineup with a free screening of the animated film “The Book of Life“, and discussion with its director, Cal Arts graduate Jorge Guierrez, on Thursday, April 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newhall Community Center.

RepTheater

As part of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will be held on Wednesday, April 15, with the 2015 Western Music Association’s Female and Male Performers of the Year: Kristyn Harris and Jim Jones. The western music event starts at 8 p.m. at the Repertory East Playhouse. Tickets can be purchased here.

On Thursday, March 12, the City of Santa Clarita debuted its new monthly car show, Revved Up, as part of its Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

More than 500 people packed the Main Street in Old Town Newhall to attend the event, which featured 40 classic VW’s including: Beetles, classic buses, Type 3s, Karmann Ghias, Things (aka Type 181) and a Porsche-VW 914. Attendees voted on the cars in two categories: People’s Choice and Peer Choice.

The next Revved Up event will feature trucks and off-roading vehicles on Thursday, April 9. Residents can submit their car for consideration to be featured at the next event.

The next Thursdays@Newhall event will be the Luck O’ the Irish Senses block party which will be held on Thursday, March 19, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

‘Rockabilly’ Themed Block Party Tonight at ‘Senses on Main’ in Old Town Newhall

Tonight, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., guys and dolls are invited to relive the days of retro music, hot rods and pin-up girls at the Rockabilly themed SENSES event on Main Street.

The evening will start with the Rockabilly band, Hard Six and continue the night with the music of Three Bad Jacks.

This free event will also feature street performers and gourmet food trucks, including Baby’s Badass BurgersThe Grilled Cheese Truck, and The Greasy Wiener, or grab a drink at the bar on Main Street.

Get ready to eat, dance and rock this June as the Thursdays @ Newhall event series, presented by Galpin Subaru, returns with the fourth installments of Art SLAM, J.A.M. Sessions and SENSES.

Tonight, the most fragrant Art SLAM of the year will showcase one of the culinary world’s most distinctive ingredients: Garlic! Chefs from across Santa Clarita will offer FREE samples of their most delectable garlic-infused treats, from garlic bread, hummus and ice cream to mashed potatoes, and Rugelach. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.

The interactive musical movement J.A.M. Sessions will liven up Main Street on Thursday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the moves of Japanese Folk Dance and Music.  Christine Inouye will demonstrate how to perform this rhythmic dance with the use of traditional fans as Minyo Station provides the sounds of Japanese folk fusion. Senses August Odd Ball Sports 1 The Thursdays @ Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru, snaps back into action this May with the third installments of Art SLAM, JAM Sessions and SENSES. Art SLAM kicks off on Thursday, May 1, between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. with a theme dedicated to the art of the human figure.  From abstract illustrations to 3D animation, artists have depicted the human body through a wide variety of mediums since the prehistoric era. JAM Session Farmers Market 3 On Thursday, May 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the interactive musical movement JAM Sessions returns with Bluegrass Music demonstrations by Randy Torno Bluegrass Jam School.  Discover the roots of traditional country music through the instrumental sounds of Bluegrass, including the banjo, mandolin, bass, guitar and fiddle. SENSES will travels back to the days of big hair, Technicolor miniskirts and shoulder pads for a 1980’s Prom event on Thursday, May 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Attendees are invited to dress in their best retro garb and head over to Main Street for a totally tubular event complete with live 80’s music, gourmet food trucks, street performers, and much more.
