On Friday, August 31, the City of Santa Clarita along with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fifth Supervisorial District and the William S. Hart Union High School District launched a brand new anti-drug program called Drug Free Youth In Town (DFYIT) at Valencia High School.

DFYIT is a peer based anti-drug program focusing on education and prevention of drugs and alcohol.

Mayor Frank Ferry was at the launch to inspire teens to join the program and make the right decisions.

School personnel and city staff work with teen leaders (Club officers) on local high school campuses to develop, coordinate, and supervise on-campus events, community service projects and educational workshops that promote a drug free lifestyle.

Membership is not only voluntary but it is FREE to any student attending a school where there is a DFYIT chapter.

DYFIT  is not only for teens, it also includes drug prevention classes and webinars for parents to stay on top of the latest trends and research the tools needed to reduce the chances of their children using alcohol and drugs.
