The City of Santa Clarita has received the Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) Life jacket and Swim Lesson Grant.
AOAP is working to build and maintain a national network of partners to address issues of life jacket safety and swim lesson education through water safety organizations. A portion of all proceeds generated by AOAP will be used towards drowning prevention, i.e. for learn-to-swim lessons and grants for life jackets. The purpose of the funding awarded by the AOAP is to provide resources to offer learn-to-swim programs to young people who may otherwise not have the opportunity to learn to swim and life jackets to include in the learn-to-swim program curriculum and also for use during public swim times.
Santa Clarita works hard to promote and educate resident on the importance of water safety in and out of the water. The grant will provide the City with 32 lifejackets. To learn more about Santa Clarita Aquatics, click here.
