The California Retail Survey, which compares retail sales activity for each of California’s 58 counties and 480 cities, ranked the City of Santa Clarita 21st in retail sales in the recently released 2016 California Retail Survey.

Santa Clarita was ranked higher than Beverly Hills, Burbank, and Pasadena and is one of only 42 cities with a retail market above $2 billion. Santa Clarita was ranked 20th in retail sales in the 2015 California Retail Survey.

Now Los Angeles County’s third largest City, with a population of more than 219,000, Santa Clarita continues to attract top retailers, like The Cheesecake Factory, Saddle Ranch Chop House, and Hobby Lobby. Santa Clarita is also home to Southern California’s largest auto center – the Valencia Auto Center.  In the last year, the City of Santa Clarita has seen a steady increase in retail sales as new businesses open.

“As a City, we continue to attract businesses to the area to maintain a strong economy,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “By staying business friendly, we are seeing new businesses open throughout the City and add to our diverse retail market.”

The California Retail Survey ranks the largest cities in California based on dollar volume, growth rates, and sales per outlet.  The publication is a respected source of market intelligence for corporate and government executives with analysis and rankings based on actual sales results from retailers in the state.
