In an effort to help Santa Clarita residents prepare for the heavy El Niño rains predicted to hit the region this winter and spring, the Los Angeles County Fire Department will be hosting a free sand bag event on Saturday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.
Los Angeles County firefighters will be on site passing out FREE pre-filled sand bags, while supplies last. A limit of 10 bags per household has been placed to ensure sand bags are available to as many attendees as possible.
The event will also offer residents the opportunity to talk to a firefighter about how to best prepare for El Niño, pick up a free copy of the Los Angeles County Emergency Survival Guide, and guidance on how to properly place sand bags around their home.
For more information about the free sand bag event, contact Stephanie English, Los Angeles County Fire Department Community Services Liaison, at (661) 250-2710 or Stephanie.English@fire.lacounty.gov.
