The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land, will host a ribbon cutting event on Wednesday, October 29 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the City’s acquisition and protection of Gateway Ranch. Attendees may park at Newhall Church of the Nazarene, located at 23857 The Old Road, to board a free shuttle to the event. All interested in attending must RSVP by Monday, October 27.
Gateway Ranch is a 302-acre property located on the northern half of Las Lomas in the Newhall Pass. Once planned for a major housing development, the land is now part of the City’s Open Space Preservation District and protected from development indefinitely.
The grand opening will begin with refreshments at 1:30 p.m., followed by an official dedication and ribbon cutting at 2 p.m., and will culminate with a brief guided hike led by City staff at 2:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
