On Tuesday, Mayor Bob Kellar and the Santa Clarita City Council held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Old Town Newhall Roundabout.
L-R: Mayor Kellar, Councilmember Marsha McLean, Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste, City Manager Ken Striplin, California State Assemblyman Scott Wilk and Deputy Director of LA County Park’s Hayden Sohm.
Preparation for construction of the Old Town Newhall Roundabout project began on Monday and is anticipated to last six to eight months. As of Monday, July 29, the intersection of Main Street, Newhall Avenue, and 5th Street will be closed with traffic rerouted to Railroad Avenue and Lyons Avenue.
During construction, signage will be posted to guide motorists and promote businesses that are open along Main Street. Both driveways at Hart Park will also remain open during the construction of the roundabout.
