2011 Amgen Tour of California Stage 8 Start in Santa Clarita

The 2011 Amgen Tour of California Stage 8 Start was held in the City of Santa Clarita on Sunday, May 22.

A large crowd was on hand to witness the fourth time the Amgen Tour of California returned to the City of Santa Clarita.

Prior to the start of the race, riders spent time signing autographs for racing fans.

Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean and members of the City Council welcomed cycling fans.

 Seven year old local singer Marlowe Peyton sang the National Anthem prior to the cyclists leaving Santa Clarita.

The starter’s pistol fired at noon and riders headed out of Santa Clarita on their way to the overall finish in Thousand Oaks where American Christopher Horner claimed the overall victory of the race.¬†
