On Thursday, May 26, the City of Santa Clarita dedicated the Fallen Warriors Memorial Bridge, formally known as the Cross Valley Connector Golden Valley Bridge.
This bridge commemorates Santa Clarita residents from the armed forces who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Family and Friends of the fallen warriors gathered at the dedication.
Mayor Marsha McLean was joined by the rest of the City Council and dignitaries for the dedication.

The City of Santa Clarita hosted the 8th annual Bike to Work Day Challenge on Thursday, May 19. For the event, the City teamed up with Metro, Newhall Bicycle, and Performance Cyclery to host bicycle pit stops, like the one pictured above at City Hall.
Over 20 businesses, totaling over 200 employees, participated in the event. The City won the large category division with a total of 57 riders, which turned out to be the most of all the participating businesses.
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital was one of the participants in the 2011 Santa Clarita Bike to Work Day.
Marzocchi USA won the Small Business Category with 58 percent participation from their employees.
The 2011 Amgen Tour of California Stage 8 Start was held in the City of Santa Clarita on Sunday, May 22.
A large crowd was on hand to witness the fourth time the Amgen Tour of California returned to the City of Santa Clarita.
Prior to the start of the race, riders spent time signing autographs for racing fans.

Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean and members of the City Council welcomed cycling fans.
Seven year old local singer Marlowe Peyton sang the National Anthem prior to the cyclists leaving Santa Clarita.
The starter’s pistol fired at noon and riders headed out of Santa Clarita on their way to the overall finish in Thousand Oaks where American Christopher Horner claimed the overall victory of the race.
