Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival Heads to Melody Ranch This Weekend!

The City of Santa Clarita’s Cowboy Festival returns to Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studios this Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May1.  For a list of Saturday’s schedule click here, and for Sunday’s schedule of performances click here.  

Tickets can be purchased at the shuttle site (click for directions). Daily festival tickets are: Adults $20,  Children (3-11) $10 and children under 3 are free. For a list of commonly asked questions click here.

Cowboy Festival Youth Poetry Roundup

Last night the Chick-fil-A Family Night featured poetry reading from winners of the Cowboy Festival Youth Poetry Roundup. The winners will also be reciting the poems at the Cowboy Festival at Melody Ranch Motion Pictures Studios.

The winning students were from Old Orchard Elementary, Peachland Elementary, Charles Helmers Elementary, Pinetree Elementary, and Rancho Pico Junior High School.

On hand at the event was trick roper Dave Thornbury who will also be at the Cowboy Festival this weekend at Melody Ranch Motion Pictures Studios.

Cowboy Week Kicks Off Tonight with Cowboy Couture Fashion Show, Limited Seating Available!

The City of Santa Clarita’s Cowboy Festival officially kicks off tonight with the Cowboy Couture Fashion Show at the Repertory East Playhouse in Old Town Newhall. Around Town: Creekside Streetscape Dedication

Yesterday, the Santa Clarita City Council was joined by community dignataries and members of the Valencia Auto Dealers Association for the dedication of the new Creekside Streetscape project along the Valencia Auto Row.

Mayor Marsha McLean praised the benefits of public/private partnerships that were a significant part of the project.

Don Fleming , President of the Auto Dealers Association, talked about the new pedestrian friendly and beautification enhancements and what they will mean to the Auto Row. 

City Arts Commission Applications Due by April 29

The City of Santa Clarita’s Arts Commission has an unscheduled vacancy and applications are currently being accepted. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday April 29th at 5 p.m.

The Arts Commission is made up of five members with an interest in the arts community within the City ofSanta Clarita. The Commission advises the City Council and City staff on matters of the arts including public art, art programs, and art events throughout the community.  

The term of office on the Arts Commission, which had previously been filled by Sandra Fisher, expires on  July 31, 2014. The deadline for submitting an application to the City Clerk’s office, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd., Suite 304, is 5:00 p.m. All applicants must also submit three letters of recommendation with their application.

The Santa Clarita City Council is inviting the public to a dedication of the new Streetscape project on Creekside Road tomorrow, April 26 at noon.

Eggstravaganza Event Happening at Central Park Saturday

The annual Eggstravaganza egg scramble will take place at the City of Santa Clarita’s Central park this Saturday April 23. Participants are encouraged to bring a basket to the free event which begins promptly at 10:00 a.m.

The park will be divided into different areas by age, so everyone has a fun and fair time. The event is free, and there is no registration required, but participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable or canned food items with them to the event to be donated to the Santa Clarita Food Pantry.”
