The Great American Campout, awarded in the health and Wellness category, saw hundreds of campers descend on Central Park last year for the inaugural campout. The event returns on June 25, 2011, offering residents the opportunity to spend a beautiful summer evening under the stars and experience the outdoors with fun activities for the whole family. Space is limited and registration begins February 22, register online at santa-clarita.com/campout.
In the Park Planning and Design Category, Discovery Park was specifically recognized for the park’s unique features of integrating community needs while restoring ecological function to the land.
