Revamped Crime Tip Tracking System Netting Results

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station recently developed and implemented a new system for tracking crime tips. Analysis of the first 30 days of the new crime tip tracking and investigation system showed that the new program is working effectively and generating results.

By the end of August the new crime tip program received 46 tips, which resulted in seven arrests. 24 tips had been reviewed and closed, and 16 tips were actively being worked. The process, which is automated, provides a follow-up and accountability system, assigns specific sheriff’s personnel to each crime tip, and requires that tips are resolved in a timely manner.

Anonymous Crime Tips can be reported in several ways:

  • Los Angeles Regional CrimeStoppers: 800-222-TIPS (8477)
  • Texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637)
  • Online at lacrimestoppers.org.

Crimes in progress or those requiring immediate attention should be reported directly to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station at (661) 255-1121 or by dialing 9-1-1.
