Last Thursday, February 25, the City broke ground on Phase 2 of Discovery Park in Canyon Country. Mayor Laurene Weste and members of the Santa Clarita City Council welcomed dignitaries and members of the community for the ground breaking of what will be Santa Clarita’s newest park.
Located near Camp Plenty Road and Soledad Canyon, the new Discovery Park will be the City’s first “passive” park. The graded area in the picture above is just a small portion of the 25 acre site that will be transformed to add amenities. Most of Discovery park will exist in its natural state with hiking paths and opportunities for exploration and recreation.

While much of the pre-construction park was left untouched through the years, damage from motorcycles and other outside influences will be repaired during the construction of the park, restoring the area to it’s natural state.
