Local residents braved the chilly Aquatic Center Waterslide Pool on January 1, 2009
The City of Santa Clarita will host its 4th Annual Glacier Slide Polar Bear Swim on Friday, January 1, giving community members the opportunity to ring in the new year with a (very chilly) early morning splash at the Aquatic Center Waterslide Pool. Admission to the event is $3 and includes a limited edition Polar Bear Club souvenir and toasty refreshments. Heaters, coffee, hot chocolate and donuts will be provided to help thaw participants post-plunge.

Aquatic Center gates will open at 8:30 a.m. with the Glacier Slide Polar Bear Swim kicking off at 9 a.m. Spectators are welcome to attend and cheer on participants. The Aquatic Center Waterslide Pool will not be open for recreational swimming on January 1 and will close immediately following the Polar Bear Swim.
