Bands of America Championsips Held This Saturday at College of the Canyons

Bands from accross the United State will march on COC Saturday

More than 30 of the Western United States’ best high school marching bands will descend on College of the Canyons Saturday, October 31 for the regional Bands of America Championships. Hosted by Music for All, the event is the largest Southern California regional marching band competition to date. The competition will feature an explosion of energetic performances as participating marching bands from Santa Clarita to San Antonio pull out all the stops in an effort to take home the championship title.

Reminder – Seasonal Flu Clinic at COC Happening Today (Friday) 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic was already well underway at 10 a.m. this morning.

Seasonal flu inoculations are being held at a drive through clinic today from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (or as long as doses last) at College of the Canyons. Please note that the inoculations are for SEASONAL FLU ONLY and not the H1N1 virus.

City of Santa Clarita Teen Summit

350 teens attended the City's Teen Summit at the Activities Center

On Wednesday October 21, approximately 350 students from seven local junior high schools attended the Youth Summit to learn about the importance of respect for themselves, each other, and the community.

Activities such as team building and self expression were held at the Summit

Hands-on activities including team building and self expression were held to illustrate the event’s title concept, “Respecting Ourselves and Respecting Each Other.”

Santa Clarita City Councilmember Laurie Ender was on hand and delivered the opening address

Informational presentations at the event focused on relevant issues such as graffiti awareness and government participation.
