Artists were commissioned to submit original pieces of art to be featured in a City bus shelter poster
Earlier in the week City Briefs posted the first in a series of artist spotlights for the Art Stop Project. Today the series continues with a look at another Art Stop Project winner.
As part of the promotion for the upcoming City of Santa Clarita Festival of the Arts, presented by Lockheed Federal Credit Union, (formerly the Santa Clarita Street Art Festival) the City and Santa Clarita Arts Advisory Committee commissioned 10 works of art for the Art Stop Project, part of the Art in Public Places program. Each piece of art chosen is displayed at a bus stop shelter around town. Santa Clarita City Briefs will be posting all winning pieces of art leading up to the festival.

The Indian by Bob Hernandez
Artist: Robert Hernandez
Title: The Indian
Information about artwork: “I created this painting using animation acrylic paint on color view paper. The paint is a very opaque yet fluid and easy to apply, especially on the coarse surface of the paper. My inspiration was a series of photographs that I found at the L.A. Main Branch Library. I like to search the old forgotten files that were taken years ago, probably because of the high contrast look and feel of the pictures.
