The air quality in the Santa Clarita Valley is ranging from moderate to very unhealth according to the AQMD website (click for updates)
While the Station Fire remains outside of Santa Clarita, the South Coast Air Quality Management District is urging residents to use extreme caution avoid unnecessary outdoor activities in any area directly impacted by smoke.

This picture, taken yesterday from Acton, depicts the sheer volume of smoke released into the sky. Wind can carry smoke and pollutants great distances.
For affected areas the AQMD recommends the following:
Everyone should avoid any vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion; people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should remain indoors. Keep your windows and doors closed unless it is extremely hot inside. In these cases, seek alternate shelter. Run your air conditioner if you have one. Keep the fresh air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent bringing additional smoke inside.

Outdoor recreation programs and practices have been cancelled today due to poor air quality caused by the Station Fire
Due to the emergency fire operations taking place, Central Park will be closed to the public, including Central Bark (dog park), and all recreation activity at the location is cancelled until further notice.
The City’s Skate Park, Aquatic Center and Gymnasium will also be closed today, and all City Youth Sports programs and practices are cancelled today at Canyon Country Park, Valencia Meadows Park, and Valencia Heritage Park. Other youth group reservations are also cancelled at Santa Clarita Park, Bouquet Canyon Park, Newhall Park, and Old Orchard park due to air quality issues resulting from the fires.
The closures will continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Community members can call: 250-3700 for more information.
