The City of Santa Clarita and the SCV Sheriff’s Station rolled out a new motorcycle safety campaign. Check out mayordude.com for details and special offers. Here are a few facts:
There were 50 traffic collisions involving motorcycles in our City with 10% resulting in a fatality. That’s a 39% increase over the previous year. It’s a fact that motorcyclists are 26 times more likely to die in a traffic collision than someone riding in a car.
Rather than just remind motorcyclists to slow down, wear a helmet and be aware of their surroundings, the City is going several steps further. The City of Santa Clarita has reached out to local motorcycle shops, Nelson Motorcycle Training Center at College of the Canyons, local motorcycle shops, insurance companies and local law enforcement for participation. The website has tips on safe driving.
Hopefully this campaign will reduce the number of motorcycle related accidents. Drive safe!
