Construction has started on the Old Town Newhall streetscape. Crews are currently installing a new storm drain for the 5 block span of Main Street. Construction will then begin on the streetscape improvements.
As depicted in the artist rendering, the area will see new brick pavers, extended pedestrian areas at the intersections, new seating, landscaping, streetlights and other amenities. During special events, such as the 4th of July Parade and Street Art Festival, Main Street can be closed to traffic as depicted in the illustration. This first phase of streetscape improvements will be constructed between 6th Street and 8th Street. The next phase will be from 8th Street to Lyons Avenue.
